Specific job responsibilities relevant for this position include:
Assisting charter school staff in the classroom, lunch, recess, special events, front office, etc.

Class

Summary:

Under supervision provides instructional support for classroom teachers. Performs a variety of tasks to support the community involvement of students. Initiates and organizes opportunities for students through community partnerships. Performs a variety of support and instructional functions to facilitate parent/family involvement for the success of each student. Individual may be assigned to specific areas, but may perform any of the tasks listed.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

• Duty No. Essential Duties Frequency 1 1 Under the direction of a highly qualified teacher, implements student tutorial services using appropriate curriculum/instructional materials necessary in a pull-out and/or a classroom setting. Monitors student performance and classroom participation.
• 2 Assists in providing accurate student records on attendance, assessment, leveling and other information related to student's path to academic success.
• 3 Assist teachers in developing community partnerships to provide opportunities for students regarding employability, learning, and community service involvement.
• 4 Conduct parent and community involvement events.
• 5 Assists in management of tools, supplies and equipment related to the school's library and technology/media resources.
• 6 May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Training and Experience (position requirements at entry):
Previous education, training, work or life experience that provides reasonable evidence of the successful performance of the various tasks listed. Such experience may be evidenced by one (1) to three (3) years of experience with at-risk youth.

Licensing Requirements (position requirements at entry): A valid Alaska Driver's License.

Physical Requirements:

Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
