the community youth athletics & activities program coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating safe, engaging, and culturally meaningful opportunities for youth and families in the yakutat community.

the position will support the development of community-based youth programming that promotes positive engagement, healthy lifestyles, personal growth, leadership, connection, and positive relationships with family and community. Programming may include youth athletics, recreational activities, educational and enrichment opportunities, vocational and life-skills activities, cultural activities, structured activities for individual youth or groups of youth, and family-centered activities.

the program coordinator will work collaboratively with youth, families, community members, tribal leadership, schools, local organizations, and other community partners to identify community needs and develop programming that is responsive to the interests and strengths of yakutat youth.

a central responsibility of the position will be working with a youth advisory board to ensure youth have meaningful input into the development, planning, and implementation of program activities. The program coordinator should be creative, flexible, collaborative, and willing to build programming from the ground up in response to youth and community needs.

the program coordinator will also identify, recruit, and coordinate qualified coaches, chaperones, volunteers, instructors, and activity facilitators to support program activities.

this position requires compliance with tribe’s compliance standards, including its standards of conduct, compliance program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the position’s regular performance evaluation.
