Responsibilities- Independently complete calculations and drawings for small and medium projects.
- Develop job‑specific specifications for less complex projects.
- Lead junior engineers in complex projects.
- Coordinate with architectural, interior, and other engineering disciplines.
- Perform Construction Administration duties, including completing field observation reports, responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and evaluating contractor change orders.
- Conduct calculations using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
- Communicate design issues and solutions with the design team and owner clients.
- Understand industry standard design processes, construction means, and methods.
- Work within project scope, budgets, and design approach to deliver projects to clients on time and on budget while maintaining high client service.
- Maintain existing client relationships.
- Assist with the development of design standards.
- Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
- Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Ability to communicate concepts and ideas verbally and in written form to architects, engineers, and owner clients.
- Ability to review the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and in team settings.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Healthcare experience preferred; specific knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI preferred.
- Minimum 5 or more years of related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Professional Engineering license required;
Structural Engineering license preferred. - Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit).
- Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite).
- Experience with industry standard structural engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.).
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather.
