Overview

High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) seeks an experienced electrical engineer to provide research instrument, facilities, power plant, and utilities engineering support. The engineer will maintain IRI transmitters, shelters, antenna towers, and RF power electronics, and work with high‑power transmitter systems and AC power distribution up to 480 VAC, 3‑phase.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure maintenance and operation of all IRI transmitters, transmitter shelters, and systems.
  • Lead RF performance testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance using advanced test equipment.
  • Collaborate with PLCs, fiber optics, LAN systems to ensure reliable operation.
  • Perform safety compliance, project oversight, and work in remote and physically demanding environments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering or related engineering discipline; preferred accredited program or equivalent.
  • Five years progressively responsible engineering work experience or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in electrical and RF engineering, safety compliance.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Professional registration in Alaska or ability to obtain within 12 months.
