Red Dog Operations is both the largest critical minerals mine in the United States and one of the largest zinc mines in the world. In 1982, Red Dog was developed through a partnership between Teck and the land‑owner NANA, an Alaska Native corporation owned by the Iñupiat of northwest Alaska. Role Overview

In coordination with the Senior Mine Engineer, the Mine Engineering Co‑Op is responsible for mine assignments and projects as assigned by the Principal Mine Engineer(s). They may be assigned duties and/or projects related to drilling and blasting, short‑range mine planning and construction projects.

This is an 8‑month term opportunity beginning in September 2026. The rotation schedule will be 4 weeks on‑site with 2 weeks off‑site.

Responsibilities
  • Participation in the health and safety programs of Teck to ensure that everyone on site goes home safe and balanced every day.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations for assistance in the development of daily, weekly and monthly mine operations plans.
  • Work on diverse tasks connected to mine layout and inventing pit and dump arrangements. Build drill & blast strategies, coordinate traditional fleet management, and prioritize production scheduling.
  • Contribute to drilling, blasting and surveying activities and provide technical services to the mine production and other mine site departments.
  • Monitor and perform analyses of operating areas, work with geotechnical evaluations of mine plans and operating procedures.
  • Perform economic evaluations, efficiency analyses, and assist with capital expenditure documentation.
  • Develop and evaluate innovative ideas and technologies to help improve the way we do business.
Qualifications
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Mining/Mineral Resource Engineering or possessing equivalent experience is preferred. A background in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering will also be considered.
  • Motivated self‑starters with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working in a multifaceted industrial work environment with a range of engineering, technical and operational personnel.
  • Willingness to work outdoors and able to operate vehicles at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain.
  • Experience in an open‑pit mine (operationally or in an Engineering capacity) is regarded as a significant asset. Working exposure to industrial environments would also be an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Windows environment with advanced abilities in MS Excel.
  • Experience with Minesight or another mine planning software suite would be considered an asset.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with a capability to communicate complex ideas to all levels.
