Position: Adult Probation Officer 3

Adult Probation Officer 3

Location:

Palmer State Office Building, Palmer, Alaska.

Responsibilities

You will develop and deliver curriculum for Pretrial, Probation, and Parole, Correctional and Municipal training basic academies as well as in-service departmental personnel. The incumbent will work with an emphasis on Pretrial, Probation and Parole (DP3) training disciplines and assist in providing ongoing educational opportunities for the Department of Corrections.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field.
  • Two years of professional experience in probation, parole, pretrial, criminal justice, juvenile justice, social services, criminal investigation, public safety, law enforcement, or as a social services case manager or counselor; or six years of postsecondary education combined with paraprofessional experience in the same fields (2.67 semester hours or 4 quarter hours of postsecondary education equal one month of experience).
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and a United States citizen or US national; have a high school diploma or GED recognized by a state; possess a valid driver’s license issued within the United States.
  • Familiarity with state and federal criminal laws, procedures, regulations, and precedents; sound decision‑making, program oversight and legal knowledge; experience with arrest procedures and use of force; (include above bullet categories).
