The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Correctional Officer 3 for the Palmer Correctional Center (PCC) located in Sutton, Alaska.

This is a 42 hour work week responsible for the daily monitoring of prisoner phone calls, reviewing and capturing camera recordings for incidents that occur to include PREA, Special Incident Reports and Discplinary infractions, scanning prisoner mail for potential contraband, gathering information related to security threat groups, investigating inmates and members of the public attempting/planning to introduce contraband into the facility.

Prepares random urinalysis testing and facility searches as required by policy. Works with various law enforcement agencies to include but not limited to AST, Wasilla Police Department, Palmer Police Department, Anchorage Police Department, US Marshals, FBI, US Immigration and ATF. Review and screen incoming mail and inmate emails flagged by the mail room staff, provide presentations to new staff, create staff ’s and maintain required logs.

Palmer Correctional Center is a medium and minimum custody facility located in Sutton which houses up to 500 inmates and 107 employees. Successful completion of the Alaska Correctional Officer Academy, or equivalent program accredited by the Alaska Police Standards Council

One year of experience performing duties which support the custody, security, and rehabilitation of prisoners in an adult correctional institution. The required experience is met by service as a Correctional Officer II with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.
