• Ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient drug therapy while positively impacting patient care.
• Prepare and distribute medications in compliance with federal and state laws.
• Provide valuable patient counseling and education.
• Collaborate with medical, nursing, and village staff on drug therapy advisement.
• Maintain an appropriate drug inventory and engage in quality improvement activities.
• Demonstrate professional judgment in evaluating prescriptions for safety, appropriateness, and compliance.

• Review all prescriptions for legality, completeness, contraindications, interactions, allergies, and lab value abnormalities.
• Provide clinical consultation and resolve concerns with prescribers before dispensing.
• Document clinical activities and interventions thoroughly.
• Verify and fill prescription orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Communicate with patients to ensure understanding of medication usage and expectations.
• Perform medication therapy management and chart reviews for prescription refills.
• Direct pharmacy support personnel and serve as a role model for pharmacy students and technicians.
• Participate in quality control and improvement initiatives, as well as departmental activities.
• Engage in health promotion and disease prevention related to drug use and therapy.

  D. degree and licensure as a registered pharmacist.
• Candidates licensed prior to 2003 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree will be considered with 3 years of relevant experience.
• An unrestricted license as a registered pharmacist in the State of Alaska.
• Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Completion of a nationally recognized pharmacy residency program preferred.

• Proficiency in reviewing medical histories, lab results, and medication orders.
• Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate care to all patients.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computer applications and mathematical skills for accurate dosing.
• Capacity to work collaboratively within the health system and pharmacy staff.
• Flexibility to adapt to frequent interruptions and changes in workload.

• 4X10 schedule, 7:30 AM - 6:30 PM, including weekend and holiday coverage.

• 2 years of relevant experience.

• BLS/BCLS certification required.
