Job Summary
This position facilitates the effective coordination of a department/division program and the associated activities. Work is performed and duties are carried out in accordance with established policies, procedures, and Borough core values:

Minimum RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of experience in a similar position, sufficient to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Relevant experience may include:
Experience working as a case manager, handling clients and managing their cases. Experience in roles that require substantial public interaction, including conflict resolution, negotiating and fostering community relations. Knowledge of local community resources and services that can support the program and its participants. Experience coordinating programs, especially those related to social services, community outreach or criminal justice is preferred.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen and physical.
Program Coordinators assigned to Development Services must have completed the Hepatitis B vaccination series and maintain a current Tetanus (Td or Tdap) vaccination, or provide signed declinations, in accordance with applicable health and safety guidelines.
Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) courses, ICS 100 and IS 700 within ninety (90) days of hire.
Duties/Responsibilities- Responsible for the coordination of an assigned program and its activities; plans, organizes and implements program related events; collaborates with other departments and organizations as needed; develops related public relations materials; and, manages program related communications through media relations, social media etc.
- Ensure implementation of fair and efficient program related policies, procedures and documents; identifies and appropriately follows up on program related issues and/or complaints; elevates and/or refers program related issues as appropriate.
- Manages the activities of volunteer or assigned personnel; conducts orientation and training sessions as needed; and, organizes program related recruitment, outreach and/or recognition programs.
- Maintain budget; track expenditures/transactions; prepare program reports and correspondence; and, track program related metrics.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with organizations, community councils and community groups; and, coordinates program related community initiatives.
- Schedule and organize program related meetings/events and maintain agenda; makes presentations to promote the program; coordinates with community groups.
- Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.).
- Prepares program related documents and materials; orders and maintains adequate program supplies.
- Maintains program files and records.
- Support growth and program development.
- Performs related duties.
Temporary and Thousand Hour (1000) employees for the Mat-Su Borough do not receive a benefits package. Following is a brief description of the only benefit provided to this class of employee. Alaska Supplemental Benefits System:
The Supplemental Benefits System (SBS) is in lieu of Social Security and is mandatory. An employee contributes at 6.13% of gross wages, matched by the Borough (6.13%), on the present wage base of $176,100.
01 I understand that the schedule for this position will vary based on operational needs and the hours will be limited to less than 30 per week and 1,000 per 12 month period. I further understand this is an on-call position that receives no benefits and no guarantee of hours.
