Role Description
Assistant ACE Hardware PIC responsibility is to focus on customer satisfaction while increasing sales and ensuring a neat, safe, and well merchandised store. Assist in the assignment of tasks, train and monitor progress of each objective, and assist in the professional development of each team member. Company policies and procedures guides will be used as tools to ensure all customers receive “legendary” customer service.
Assumes responsibilities of the Ace Hardware PIC in the absence of the Ace Hardware PIC.
Skills and Abilities
- Proficient with cash register/point of sale (POS), inventory management, forklift, paint mixer, paint computer, key machine and other relevant equipment.
- Maintain a floor presence, assist department managers, and ensure store maintenance including duties but not limited to putting away orders, sweeping floors, bringing down overstock.
- Ensure accurate inventory management and promptly address discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate pricing through signage and bin tags and execute price changes as needed.
- Efficiently receive and stock freight shipments.
- Minimize back stock while maximizing floor displays and contribute to the selection of new merchandise.
- Project sales and schedule labor within Ace Hardware Department to comply with established and/or directed standards and goals.
- Enforce standards for a safe, secure, and harassment‑free work environment.
- Engage in constructive and high‑quality communication with supervisors and team members.

- Supervise the Ace Hardware team, ensuring members are in their designated areas and fulfilling assigned tasks.
- Oversee cashiering standards, including implementing the Ace Rewards program.
- Ensure assigned tasks for stocking crew are completed.
- Ensure safe retrieval of merchandise by spotting for Forklift Drivers, keeping areas clear of fall hazards.
- Uphold merchandising standards by aligning products, restocking, and ensuring correct signage and display setups.
- Coordinate with supervisors and managers to execute prioritized merchandising plans.
- Utilize equipment such as box knives and manual pallet jacks to manage merchandise, ensuring adherence to safety procedures.
- Maintain store presentation by setting up displays, ensuring products are accessible and safely secured, and performing cleaning duties such as sweeping and mopping.
- Effectively manage and resolve customer and employee complaints, ensuring that service is provided promptly and courteously.
- Review schedules, coordinate appropriate staffing, and efficiently manage employee breaks, lunches, and side tasks to meet customer needs.
- Monitor and resolve problems related to store equipment and materials, including but not limited to forklift, pallet jacks, and price guns.
- Ensure safe opening and closing procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency with all store technology.
- Ensure security of company assets – loss prevention.
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.

- Automatic raise of $1.00/hr every 1,040 hours worked
- Auto raises will be provided based on straight‑time hours worked until top of pay scale is reached.
Pay Range: Starting at $19.00/hr (DOE)

Work is performed in a store setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders, frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds below waist, up to 75 pounds at waist/chest and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
Occasionally or continuously grasp with more/less than 8# of force, pushing/pulling with hands and repetitive hand motions, with frequent fine finger manipulation. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
