General Maintenance Mechanic

Position Overview

General Maintenance Mechanic – Anchorage, Alaska – Joint Base Elmendorf‑Richardson.

Schedule:

Full‑time, day shift.

Compensation: $40.71 per hour.

• Perform general maintenance of facilities, including carpentry, electrical, and plumbing work.
• Execute multiple maintenance, cleanliness, and operation assignments across hydroelectric power stations.
• Inspect boilers, other machinery, and overhead doors, making required adjustments or repairs.
• Operate company‑provided vehicles, trailers, and small equipment such as lifts, generators, portable heaters, and pneumatic devices.
• Use and install chain hoists and other lifting devices for rigging equipment and hardware.
• Conduct general maintenance of the vehicle and equipment fleet, including changing tires, fluids, lamps, wipers, filters, and fixtures.
• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Maintain high proficiency in and adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
• Utilize computers and handheld mobile devices for timekeeping, data entry, and management of assigned work.
• Use mobile maintenance and inspection devices to record all service and repair activities.
• Maintain professionalism in appearance and demeanor and wear required PPE.

• Preferred:
  Six (6) months of facilities maintenance experience.
• Proficiency in most semi‑skilled and all unskilled tasks.
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods in varied environments, including adverse weather and high places.
• Good manual dexterity, eye–hand coordination, physical fitness, and balance.

• Ability to lift or move up to 70 pounds.
• Ability to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and perform repetitive motion for several hours.
• Staying or sitting for extended periods, climbing in and out of vehicles, and ascending/descending stairs may be required.
• Persevere under pressure for extended periods of time.

• Valid state driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
• Real‑ driver’s license or acceptable alternative (U.S. passport or military ) for access to federal installation.
• Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
• Background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
