Job Summary
The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for performing the full range of journey-level plumbing work, including assembling, installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing and drainage systems in compliance with specifications and plumbing codes.
Essential Duties- Review blueprints, schematic drawings, and job specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and drainage systems.
- Develop material takeoffs for pending projects.
- Assist Project Foreman in preparing estimates as they relate to plumbing tasks.
- Assemble, install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems.
- Identify required tools and special equipment.
- Select the type and size of pipe.
- Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures.
- Measure and cut openings in walls and floors to install pipe and pipe fittings.
- Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, and supported.
- Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing, drainage systems, and fixtures.
- Schedule and record all repair and maintenance activities.
- Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
- Have knowledge of hydronic heating systems including boilers, heat exchangers, and circulating pumps.
- Have a working knowledge of mechanical systems and the electrical systems that control them.
- Work with other trades to achieve key deliverables.
- Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
- Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid U.S. issued driver’s license is required.
- North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
- A State of Alaska Certificate of Fitness is required.
- The ability to work 80.5 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.
- At least four (4) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber is required.
- Three (3) or more years of experience working in a construction or industrial setting, the petrochemical or oil and gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in other Arctic environments is preferred.

Working on the North SlopeWhile working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi‑Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying;
however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self‑serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/theater room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on‑site orientation.
