JOB SUMMARY

The Hovercraft Deckhand supports safe hovercraft operations by assisting the pilot with inspections, maintenance, cargo loading, passenger safety protocols, and general vessel readiness. This position performs manual and semi-skilled work, including equipment repair support, cleaning and maintaining tools and work areas, and assisting with hovercraft skirt and finger segment construction. The Hovercraft Deckhand is expected to follow company and customer policies, support AES's zero-incident safety culture, and work safely in Arctic conditions.

ESSENTIAL

DUTIES
  • Perform tasks as instructed by Hover Craft pilot with assisting in maintenance and regular checks of the Hover Craft.
  • Attend a class to obtain a Marine Mammal Observer certificate and to perform these tasks daily upon any trip using a specially designed APP documenting the observations.
  • Assist in building Skirt and Finger segments for the Hovercraft; sewing is involved.
  • Help load/secure cargo.
  • Instruct passengers of normal safety protocols and to abide by all safety protocols set forth.
  • Assist Hover Craft Pilot/Mechanics as need be to repair or replace parts on the Hover Craft.
  • Willingness to work under Arctic Conditions.
  • Assist journey-level workers.
  • Assist in the repair and lubrication of equipment and machinery.
  • Operate light machinery and equipment as required.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tools, and the general work area.
  • Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needs require.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • One year's related training and experience required.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Mechanical knowledge.
