Job Overview

Assists and provides guidance to separated or separating students during the prescribed service period, providing placement (employment, apprenticeship, and post-secondary education opportunities), and transition services. Establishes robust relationships with employers, community colleges, and other entities to ensure successful placements with good career pathway opportunities for economic self-sufficiency. Establishes thorough knowledge of and referrals to community-based services available to assist Job Corps graduates with successful transition into independent living.

Provides positive, individualized services to Job Corps graduates and former enrollees, and documented case notes that reflect services provided.

Pay Rate: $46,446.00/year
Hours worked: M-F, 8am-5pm
Retirement Plan: Eligible to participate in company 401(k) with Company matching after 1 year
Vacation: Minimum of ten days per year. Actual days are based upon your Service Date
Sick Time: Ten days per year
Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year

Work Model: Onsite/In-Office

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Coaches students in regards to looking for a job or applying for college or military; assists students with job search, resume writing, and interviewing skills.
  • Contacts students prior to separation, immediately following separation, and at least every thirty (30) days post separation to provide placement and transition assistance.
  • Verifies employment, job upgrades, and school and/or military placement in compliance with government regulations.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with employers to place Job Corps graduates in jobs with career potential and former enrollees in entry level jobs.
  • Maintains transition check log to account for check distribution for graduates and verifies addresses prior to mailing checks.
  • Submits a monthly report to management detailing the placement activities performed and the contacts made to include placed, not placed, and cannot locate.
  • Participates in outreach trips to network with potential employers and school officials. Conducts presentations to individuals, youth groups, communities, agencies, schools, and potential employers to foster interest in Job Corps. Attends career and college fairs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records.
  • Assists Outreach/Admissions staff in communicating basic requirements of Job Corps eligibility to urban and rural youth, youth influencers (parents, elders, teachers, counselors, etc.), and potential future employers.
  • Creates and maintains partnerships with One Stops or Job Service agencies in rural and urban communities to foster interagency relationships to provide and coordinate placement and transition services.
  • Conducts 6-month and 12-month follow-up calls with graduates to ensure they are still employed; provides additional placement and transition services as needed.
