Position open to Alaska residents only. The Alaska Veterans & Pioneers Home is recruiting a Protective Services Specialist 3 to provide protective and support services to residents, assisting with resources, case management, and personal care.
Responsibilities- Provide social services to clients including individuals, groups, and families of residents.
- Assist residents and families in accessing outside resources such as Medicaid, Social Security, and Veterans Benefits.
- Serve as a casework expert and provide intensive, highly skilled services with complex personal and social problems.
- Lead and facilitate neighborhood team growth and development to cultivate a caring, vibrant, and engaging home for elders.
- Social work license from the State of Alaska.
- One year of supervised social work experience in a health‑care setting working directly with individuals.
- Analytical thinking/problem solving, customer service, integrity/honesty, interpersonal skills, oral communication, writing, and technical credibility.
- Physical strength and agility sufficient for bending, lifting, climbing, standing, and walking for long periods.
- Provide documentation of a social work license and one year supervised experience.
- Be willing to undergo fingerprinting, criminal background check, TB screening, and provide a current Alaska driver’s license.
The position is located in the Palmer Veterans and Pioneer Home, an assisted living facility that provides 24‑hour care. The role reports to a registered nurse and is part of direct‑care staff, responsible for assisting with personal care and support for residents.
