Position: Equipment Operator, Journey 2 (PCN 251053) Palmer

Equipment Operator, Journey 2 – Palmer Responsibilities

As part of a maintenance crew, this position performs various tasks associated with the year‑round maintenance of state highways within the Mat‑Su District. The work includes operating and servicing heavy and light‑duty equipment, maintaining vegetation, signs, barricades, fences, bridges, culverts, drainage structures, bike paths and road surfaces within the State Right‑of‑Way, and performing traffic control duties. The incumbent will also perform snow and ice removal with plows, sanders, and graders with all attachments at the Palmer maintenance station.

Working Environment

This position is part of the Palmer maintenance crew. The selected candidate will perform numerous year‑round highway maintenance and operations tasks within the Mat‑Su District boundaries.

Requirements

Applicants must be Alaska residents and meet the residency definition established by the Department of Transportation.

The incumbent must possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A at time of hire and obtain an N‑Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire.

Compliance with the DOT & PF Drug and Alcohol Policy is required. Applicants must pass the federal CDL drug test prior to beginning work in a CDL position.

This position requires the use of firearm or ammunition. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor domestic‑violence offense are disqualified in accordance with federal law.
