Anticipated Opening Athletic Trainer
This is a 12 month (210 day) position focused on providing training and wellness support to the entire school district, including sports teams, physical education classes, and other curricular & extracurricular programming. This position will report to the High School Principal and work primarily with Athletics, Special Services, and Work-Study/Internship programs. The schedule is self‑directed and flexible, with the expectation that during the school year a majority of time will be spent at extracurricular events in the afternoon/evening, including some weekend work.

- Pre‑screening of participant conditions
- Develop injury prevention strategies
- Ensure adequate hydration is provided to participants during events
- Oversee and administer baseline concussion testing
- Monitor weather conditions and safety
- Provide nutritional advice to students and staff
- Oversee and supervise strength training programs
- Develop fitness protocols for strength and conditioning
- Evaluate and treat emergency, acute, and chronic conditions
- Determine where referral is necessary
- Provide medical coverage for events including games and practices
- Provide first aid services where necessary
- Oversee and manage concussion return to play
- Recondition participants for optimal performance and function
- Implement and utilize therapeutic modalities
- Develop and implement rehabilitative programs
- Communicate with physicians, parents, coaches, and administration where appropriate regarding student care
- Develop sports medicine policies and procedures
- Order necessary supplies and maintain event training facility
- Develop and implement emergency action plans
- Maintain electronic medical records & documentation of injuries
- Develop a Healthy Habits program for students
- Provide coaches and teachers training in injury recognition and protocols
- Support summer programming through classroom wellness programs and cooperative programming
- Develop fitness programming and activities for students in summer programming
- Oversee up to 3 student workers/interns per semester
- Build curricular and hands‑on learning programs around sports medicine and wellness
- Provide grading and evaluative feedback on interns and work‑study participants
- Develop external relationships with prospective partners for student interns, work‑study participants, and graduates
Position Type: Full‑time
Salary: up to $63,000 per year
