Role Overview

The Manufacturing Technician I is an entry-level direct labor position responsible for performing defined, repeatable assembly and packaging operations under trained supervision.

The role builds foundational manufacturing knowledge and is qualified only for specifically assigned tasks. Success requires strict adherence to safety, quality, documentation, traceability, and standard work requirements.

Independent process changes, equipment adjustments, acceptance decisions outside established criteria, and unapproved rework are not permitted.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all HSE requirements, PPE rules, ergonomic practices, equipment safeguards, controlled-area requirements, and approved procedures. Stop work and immediately escape any unsafe or uncontrolled condition.
  • Perform work exactly to the current drawing, bill of material, work instruction, inspection plan, and acceptance criteria. Do not pass defects to the next operation.
  • Perform simple manual assembly, fastening, labeling, kitting, packaging, cleaning, or visual verification using approved hand tools, fixtures, and aids.
  • Locate and follow the current work instruction with guidance. Confirm understanding before starting and ask for clarification when any requirement is unclear.
  • Conduct defined visual or simple attribute checks using approved samples, go/no-go devices, or checklists; identify and segregate obvious defects.
  • Complete required orientation and task-specific training. Work independently only after documented qualification for the assigned operation.
  • Meet the defined standard work, takt or cycle-time expectations, schedule priorities, and daily output requirements while protecting safety and quality.
  • Complete production, inspection, material, lot, serial, labor, and system transactions accurately and at the time the work is performed. Never backdate, guess, or bypass required records.
  • Verify part identity, revision, quantity, lot status, shelf life, and point-of-use condition before use. Segregate and report suspect or nonconforming material.
  • Escalate safety, quality, equipment, material, documentation, and delivery abnormalities immediately using the defined chain of support. Provide facts and preserve evidence.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, audit-ready work area; protect tools, fixtures, gauges, and product; and follow standard work without unauthorized process changes.
  • Communicate shift status clearly, support handoffs, participate in daily accountability routines, and work respectfully across Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Materials.
  • Identify waste, recurring defects, delays, ergonomic risks, and process instability. Participate in approved improvement activity and sustain updated standard work.
