Role OverviewThe Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Specialist II is responsible for supporting and strengthening the organization’s health, safety, and environmental programs across manufacturing and operational facilities. This role serves as a hands-on resource to employees, supervisors, managers, and leadership by helping ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and established safety standards.
The HSE Specialist II conducts routine inspections and assessments, supports incident investigations, identifies and helps mitigate workplace hazards, and partners with operations to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement. The role also contributes to employee training, safety awareness, environmental compliance, and the development and implementation of HSE programs.
This position requires a proactive, visible presence within the workplace and the ability to build strong relationships while holding teams accountable to safety and environmental expectations. The Specialist II is expected to work independently on day-to-day HSE activities and use sound judgment to identify when issues require escalation or additional support.

- Conduct routine workplace inspections, safety observations, and hazard assessments to identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and potential environmental concerns.
- Partner with manufacturing, operations, facilities, and other departments to develop and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Support investigations of workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, property damage, and environmental events; identify root causes and track corrective actions through completion.
- Monitor compliance with applicable federal, state, and local HSE regulations, as well as company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support OSHA compliance activities, including recordkeeping, reporting, inspections, and implementation of required programs and controls.
- Assist with maintaining and improving HSE policies, procedures, programs, and documentation.
- Deliver or coordinate safety training and employee awareness activities, including new-hire orientation, required regulatory training, and job-specific safety topics.
- Provide coaching and guidance to supervisors and employees regarding safe work practices, hazard recognition, PPE, emergency procedures, and other HSE requirements.
- Participate in risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and other proactive processes designed to prevent workplace incidents.
- Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response procedures, and coordination with emergency response teams.
- Assist with environmental compliance activities, including waste management, hazardous materials, chemical management, inspections, and required documentation.
- Monitor safety and environmental performance metrics and assist with identifying trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct follow-up activities to verify corrective actions are effectively implemented and sustained.
