Job SummaryThe Distribution Center Driver position is responsible for the delivery of merchandise to and from customers, vendors, and other branches or locations, as directed, with the use of a company vehicle. Additionally, this role is responsible for excellence in customer service, the proper use of company tools, vehicles, and equipment, as well as adhering to all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Delivers exceptional customer service through prompt, professional communication and issue resolution.
- Maintains professional relationships with customers, vendors, and internal departments, fostering collaborative problem-solving.
- Safely and efficiently delivers merchandise to customers, vendors, and branch locations.
- Verifies products during loading/unloading and ensures secure transport.
- Maintains required DOT certification and valid driver's license; promptly reports expirations or incidents.
- Conducts daily vehicle inspections and reports maintenance needs; maintains cleanliness and operational readiness.
- Uses GPS and mobile devices proficiently and follows all delivery procedures.
- Communicates delivery status and check‑ins with supervisor throughout the day.
- Follows inventory procedures for labeling, checking, and reporting discrepancies.
- Assists with physical counts and inspects products for damage, reporting issues promptly.
- Ensures inventory accuracy and proper placement within the warehouse.
- Conducts equipment safety checks and follows job site safety requirements.
- Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe lifting practices.
- Wears appropriate PPE and responds promptly to unsafe conditions.
- Conducts equipment safety inspections and secures loads properly during vehicle loading.
- Handles hazardous materials according to guidelines.
- Immediately reports and addresses unsafe conditions, accidents, and incidents, and completes required documentation.
- Maintains proficiency in company systems for data entry, communication, queue management, batching, and other relevant administrative functions.
- Performs additional duties as assigned, with flexibility to adapt to evolving organizational needs and responsibilities.
- High School diploma or its GED equivalent.
- 2 or more years experience with driving, warehousing, and related functions.
- Satisfactory DMV report plus driver insurability.
- Valid minimum 1-year DOT certification and state driver’s license.
- Aptitude for mathematical operations and numerical analysis.
- Proficient in using office technology, including computers, scanners, phone systems, and virtual meeting platforms, as required for daily responsibilities.
- Regular bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching up to 3 hours per day.
- Repetitive use of foot motion for driving 1-6 hours per day.
- Operating forklifts and material handling equipment for up to 6 hours daily.
- Frequent lifting of 25–50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling objects up to 300 lbs. occasionally.
- Prolonged use of hands, arms, and feet for equipment operation.
- Periods of sitting, standing, walking, and twisting throughout the shift.
