Role OverviewThe Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for managing and coordinating the shipping of products and materials to customers and suppliers. This role involves preparing and verifying shipments, ensuring proper packaging, maintaining accurate shipping records, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk plays a critical role in maintaining an efficient and accurate flow of goods, contributing to overall customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare Shipments:
Ensure that all outgoing shipments are properly packaged, labeled, and documented according to company standards and customer requirements. - Verify Shipments:
Review and confirm orders, packing slips, and shipping labels for accuracy before processing. - Shipping Documentation:
Generate and maintain accurate shipping records, including bills of lading, invoices, and shipping manifests. - Coordinate with Carriers:
Communicate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups, track shipments, and resolve any transportation issues. - Inventory Management:
Assist in tracking inventory levels to ensure that stock is available for shipment and report any discrepancies. - Receive Shipments:
Assist in receiving incoming shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders, and logging received goods into inventory. - Customer Communication:
Provide updates on shipment statuses and address any customer inquiries or issues related to delivery. - Compliance:
Ensure shipments comply with all legal regulations, including international shipping laws, hazardous materials, and export/import requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a warehouse environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
