This role exists to support ongoing machining demand for large-diameter, heavy-duty components requiring precision turning and experienced setup capability.

The Vertical Turret Lathe (VTL) Machinist plays a critical role in safely handling large castings and forgings while maintaining tight tolerances and production efficiency.

This is not an entry-level turning role — it’s for a machinist comfortable with large-scale work and complex setups.

- The Work You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will:

Perform full setups and operate CNC Vertical Turret Lathes (VTL)

Load and secure large castings and forgings using overhead cranes and rigging equipment

Read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T

Verify dimensions using large-scale precision inspection tools

Select carbide tooling appropriate for heavy-duty turning

Monitor tool wear and adjust offsets as needed

Perform in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specification

Maintain a safe and organized work area

This position requires confidence working with large work pieces and maintaining dimensional accuracy on heavy components.

Required

Proven experience operating CNC Vertical Turret Lathes

Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills

Ability to read and navigate G-code programs

Experience safely handling large work pieces using overhead cranes

Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision

Dependable, safety-conscious work ethic

Preferred

Experience with large-diameter turning operations

Background in heavy industrial or large-component machining environments
