Job Description
Summary/Objective
Repairs concrete and adds coatings and/or decorative coverings to floors.
Essential Functions:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
* Chips scrapes, and grinds high spots ridges, and rough projections using pneumatic chisels, hand chisels, and other hand tools.
* Cleans and preps area for application.
* Cleans construction site to eliminate possible hazards.
* Tends pumps, compressors, generators.
* Sprays materials such as water, steam, sand, sealants, solvents.
* Mixes ingredients to create compounds.
* Loads and unloads truck.
* Spreads, levels and smoothes flooring material using a rake, shovel, hand or power screed.
* Washes and treats surfaces using chemicals as specified.
* Smooth surfaces with sandpaper, scrapers, steel wool or other tools.
* Covers existing surfaces with drop cloths, paper or masking tape for protection of surfaces.
* Erects scaffolding, sets up ladders.
* Mixes cement, sand, lime and water to produce concrete, grout or slurry.
* Cuts concrete, drills holes in concrete.
* Builds molds to shape and form material.
* Mixes multiple part flooring material using hand or power mixers.
* Cleans and preps area for application.
* Tends pumps, compressors, generators, kettles.
* Digs and levels earth to grade specifications.
* Receives instructions from supervisor.
* Abides by all OSHA and Houck safety guidelines.
* Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Work Environment
Functions can take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in high, precarious places with fumes and/or airborne particles. The standard work environment has loud to very loud noise levels associated with various equipment, coworkers and phone conversations. Often work must be performed in high and/or cramped work spaces and awkward positions. The employee works around hazardous situations, materials and equipment.
Physical Demands
Physical demands are based on the ability to perform the following actions throughout an 8-10 hour period of work for a 4-7 day work week.
* Exert oneself physically over long periods of time.
* Bend stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, and other extremities.
* Use one's abdominal muscles and lower back to lift continuously over time without fatiguing.
* Exert maximum muscle force to lift, pull, or carry objects.
* Keep or regain one's body balance or to stay upright.
* Quickly move the arms and legs.
* Make fast and repeated movements of the body, fingers and hands.
* Exert muscle force repeatedly.
* Keep the hand and arm steady while making a movement.
