Job Description:

The Senior Accountant will contribute to the general ledger team of a publicly traded multinational company. This position will contribute to core close and reporting activities, collaborate cross-functionally, and support process improvements that enable the team to scale efficiently. The Senior Accountant brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently within established accounting frameworks to deliver accurate and timely financial results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including coordination with cross-functional partners to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to develop and maintain accrued expense analyses supporting close activities.
  • Maintain and utilize accrual management and ERP systems (e.g., Gappify, Oracle Fusion, Blackline) to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Review purchase orders and supporting documentation to assess timing and completion of goods and services for proper expense recognition.
  • Perform trend and variance analysis on assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts and provide clear explanations for material fluctuations.
  • Support ongoing improvements to general ledger processes, systems, and documentation to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Maintain and update desktop procedures to ensure processes are accurately documented.
  • Coordinate with internal and external partners, including auditors, to support quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX-related requests.
  • Serve as backup for other general ledger close responsibilities as needed.
  • Utilize ERP and reporting tools to analyze financial data and support management reporting.
  • Participate in department and organization-wide projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required.
  • Big 4 public accounting firm experience and CPA license preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a public company is required.
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience with large ERP systems (Oracle Fusion, Blackline, Gappify preferred).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify issues, and apply sound judgment.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and complex formulas.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision; work reviewed at key milestones.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience supporting process and workflow enhancements.
