Wing is looking for a Technical Accounting Lead to join our Finance team. This role is hybrid based in Palo Alto, CA
. As the first dedicated Technical Accounting lead at Wing, you will be the "founding architect" of our accounting policy framework. You aren’t just following rules; you are codifying how a world‑class autonomous delivery business operates. You will navigate the complexities of a hardware‑heavy balance sheet (Leases & Fixed Assets) and complex revenue structures (ASC 606). This is a high‑visibility role where you will bridge the gap between complex GAAP requirements and operationalizing these requirements in order to scale drone delivery.

• Lead the drafting, implementation, and maintenance of global accounting policies
• Manage the technical accounting treatment for our growing drone fleet and global real estate footprint. You’ll oversee lease classification, right‑of‑use asset valuations, and embedded lease analysis
• Engage with Wing’s Strategic Partnerships team to review commercial arrangements for accounting under ASC 606
• Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements. You will own the "draft‑to‑disclosure" process, ensuring audit‑ready documentation and high‑quality footnotes
• Manage the equity administration and accounting for ad‑hoc transactions, with an eventual plan for full ownership of equity accounting
• Partner with Alphabet to understand parent company accounting policies and translate these to Wing
• Collaborate with the Finance Systems team to automate technical accounting workflows (e.g., implementing lease accounting software or revenue recognition modules)
• Act as the primary liaison with Alphabet to present & articulate key technical accounting positions on complex transactions
• Establish framework to formalize technical accounting memorandums for significant, unusual, or complex transactions

• 12+ years of experience within technology, logistics, or manufacturing industries preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, or equivalent experience
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) License is preferred
• Strong understanding and application of accounting principles and financial reporting (GAAP required or IFRS is a nice to have)
• Experience advising clients or the business on accounting treatments for significant transactions
• Experience with SAP S/4 or equivalent ERP
• Demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to clearly explain complex accounting concepts to both accounting and non‑accounting audiences
• Possess deep expertise in US GAAP and SEC accounting and reporting requirements, with proven ability to research and document complex accounting conclusions
• A builder mindset that enjoys turning ambiguous workflows into streamlined, automated, and reliable processes
• Experience establishing and implementing processes that scale with business
• Comfort dealing with ambiguity in a fast‑paced environment
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and attention to detail and accuracy skills
