Research Finance Associate

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a temporary part time Accounting/Finance Associate (4437) to support clinical trial financial management and operations. Reporting to the Research Administrator, this position is responsible for clinical trial billing and invoicing, mid-study and study closeout cost analyses. The Finance Associate will coordinate regularly with study teams, faculty, Patient Financial Services, clinical labs, cell manufacturing facilities, Accounts Receivable.

• Reviewing and approving study expenditures; invoicing study sponsors according to approved budgets and payment schedules.
• Serving as a financial liaison between principal investigators, study staff, clinical labs, cell manufacturing facilities, Patient Financial Services, Accounts Receivable, and external sponsors to resolve billing matters.
• Developing reports supporting project status, benchmarking against approved budgets.
• Participating in contract closeout processes by compiling supporting documentation for expenditures and audit inquiries.
• Compiling information for the development, preparation, and finalization of new project budgets and amendments.
• Participating in and contributing to process improvements.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education & Experience: One year of job-related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skills: Strong analytical and Excel proficiency; excellent verbal and written communication skills; extreme attention to detail; strong time management skills; ability to interpret policies and work independently as well as collaboratively.

• Prior experience with clinical trial management (internal Stanford or externally sponsored).

Familiarity with Stanford accounting systems, financial policies, and procedures.
