Stanford University’s Laboratory for Cell and Gene Medicine (LCGM) is seeking an Operation Specialist 1 (Facilities Specialist
1) to perform specialized, diverse work activities and coordinate solutions, both independently and in collaboration with multiple functional teams.
LCGM is a GMP multi-product biologics manufacturing facility that provides regulatory, quality systems, process development and manufacturing support to the School of Medicine, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital and Stanford Health Care in developing innovative cell and gene-based therapies for the treatment of disease and the promotion of health in pediatric and adult patients in Phase I/II clinical trials.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the University reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is $35.99 to $45.22 hourly.
Duties- Serve as property operations/maintenance point of contact for facilities’ issues in assigned building(s), unit(s), lab(s); initiate work requests, monitor completion; coordinate routine maintenance services (trash, utilities, custodial, pest control, long‑term preservation, inspections, grounds, landscapes, alarms, systems & equipment); perform condition assessments; implement preventive maintenance plan of laboratory equipment; coordinate and integrate utility usage/optimization; schedule contract work and third‑party vendors.
- Handle property administration by completing tagging, data entry and inventory; creating and tracking purchase orders to invoice resolution; material receiving; and record keeping.
- Implement facility security programs by distributing keys, providing building access, monitoring access records, assessing security infrastructure needs (cameras, interlocks, alarms) and changing access schedules.
- Complete project coordination within department projects; act as project coordinator/liaison; oversee and execute projects (small, local) including their organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
- Serve as safety management coordinator by correcting identified safety issues; tracking chemical inventory, disposal, hazardous waste; communicating and implementing disposal procedures; conducting safety training and new employee orientation; participating in emergency preparedness, recovery and business continuity coordination.
- Coordinate space management and planning activities—including move coordination, space inventory, space allocation tracking, specifying set‑ups, maximizing utilization, and providing input into facilities renewal model and capital plan implementation.
- Other duties may also be assigned.
Education & Experience (Required)
Associate degree and two years related, demonstrated facilities administration experience, or a combination of education and experience.

- Interpersonal skills, mature judgment required to interact effectively with a broad range of people, including faculty and vendors, both individually and in groups.
- Ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects with competing priorities, meet deadlines and project plans with short‑ and long‑term end dates.
- Working knowledge of applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Smartsheet.
- Experience working with internal and external vendors and services contracting.
