EdEthics is led by Meira Levinson, Professor supports educators and policymakers to ask important questions about the ethical dimensions of their work, develops new language to talk about educational ethics, and provides frameworks for developing a philosophically rigorous, pragmatically useful theory of educational justice. EdEthics works with K‑12 practitioners and school districts, higher education, policymakers, and scholars in a range of initiatives and networks.
It also develops and publishes normative case studies, academic research, digital resources, and other resources in various mediums. Current projects include online and in‑person offerings to help teachers and educational leaders address ethical dilemmas and values in education, research on intellectual humility, and supporting the teaching of the legacies of slavery and navigating controversial conversations in the classroom. Summary
The Director of Finance & Operations leads the financial and operational components across projects at the initiative. The Director will work with the Faculty Director and Executive Director as well as other members of the leadership team to ensure that accounting, programmatic strategies, and operational procedures are effectively implemented. This position is hybrid; part of the appointment is on campus and part off‑site per operational need.
It is a 1‑year fixed‑term appointment that may be renewed subject to funding and operational need.
- Directly report to the Faculty Director and Executive Director.
- Collaborate with leadership team to develop budgets and lead finalization of budgets.
- Collaborate with leadership team on grant proposals, reports, one‑pagers and other development resources, and philanthropic development strategy and outreach.
- Help plan, coordinate, and participate in leadership team meetings.
- Manage hiring and coordinate with key staff across GSE and the University.
- Supervise EdEthics administrative staff.
- Manage finances and budgets across projects.
- Lead business, regulatory and technical elements of programs.
- Ensure alignment and compliance with University regulations.
- Generate annual and periodic reports for different projects.
- Coordinate with relevant Stanford staff across various departments, including HR, OSR, and Development.
- Conduct outreach and coordination with other centers and initiatives at Stanford University with which we might partner and collaborate.
Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
