What to Expect
We are looking to hire an experienced Test Engineer for our High Voltage Distribution Reliability Test team. As a Test Engineer, you will work with a passionate and multi-disciplinary group of engineers while learning how to build and use hardware and software solutions to validate high voltage distribution components to rigorous internal and automotive-industry standards.
This role influences product design through reliability risk identification and testing. We start at early concept phases, going through product development and launch, and continuing into mass production. The candidate will be responsible for developing test plans, designing and implementing fixtures and automated testers, testing samples to failure, reporting on findings, helping root cause failures cross-functionally, and pushing for design changes.
We are interested in candidates with over 5 years of relevant experience, with priority given to curious and driven engineers that have a proven track record of strong technical problem solving, leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
What You ll Do- Lead validation of new high voltage distribution products by identifying risks with the cross-functional team through DFMEA, defining validation plans and schedules, and managing test execution towards milestones such as phase exits and start of production
- Develop test infrastructure including mechanical fixtures, electrical testers, and software libraries to allow other test engineers to effectively execute testing
- Mentor or manage other test engineers and technicians to develop the broader team and achieve objectives across larger projects
- Communicate with engineering leaders the status of a validation program, risks, and failures discovered from testing
- Investigate test and field failures to drive product development and test improvement
- Identify and execute experiments targeting new technologies or critical failures
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding and demonstrated experience of multiple: statics, heat transfer, solid mechanics, materials science, linear circuits, and measurement and instrumentation
- Experience designing test setups for mechanical, thermal, or electrical validation testing
- Experience with an object-oriented coding language and scripting (Python, C++, etc.) for hardware control and data analysis; experience writing software libraries that will be used by others
- Experience with 3D CAD software
- Experience creating, and executing design validation plans and test methods to validate performance requirements
- Comfortable using electrical test equipment and DAQs. Familiarity with high voltage systems and safe work practices preferred
- Experience leading, and driving technical projects to completion, especially when multiple teams input and consensus are required; an appetite for hands-on technical problem solving and first-principles thinking
- Comfortable spending significant time in the lab. Able to use hand, power, and other prototyping tools
