Role SummaryThe Rivian Supply Chain team is looking for highly motivated and exceptional Purchasing professionals to bring Rivian’s engineered products to life. In this role, the Lead Global Supply Manager will be responsible for sourcing and managing parts that make up the building blocks of the R1T, R1S, R2, R3 and Electric Delivery Vehicles. As a Lead Global Supply Manager, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of the awarding of new business, developing strong supplier relationships, and working side by side with our engineering counterparts to push the envelope of our technical requirements.
You will also take the lead in making sure Rivian can meet its cost targets, suppliers deliver to our aggressive timelines, and parts are received at the highest level of quality. In our team, we expect our people to own every aspect of the sourcing process from start to finish and everything in between. This position is located onsite in Palo Alto, CA.
- Responsible for managing sourcing for ECU, PCBA, and subcomponents
- Understanding of bottoms‑up should costing for ECU, PCBA, and subcomponents
- Work with the suppliers to drive material readiness and ramp readiness
- Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps
- Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDAs, General Terms & Conditions and Production Supply Agreements
- Work closely with engineering teams to develop technology Rivian roadmap in conjunction with the sourcing strategy
- Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities and develop a sourcing strategy and roadmap for Rivian stakeholders
- Perform detailed analysis of quote submissions based on cost breakdown form data
- Using analytical skills to drive & implement cost reductions on prototype and production vehicles through leveraged negotiations to achieve vehicle cost targets
- Manage supplier relationships and performance through key performance metrics
- Review Engineering, Design & Development (ED&D) costs with Engineering leads to ensure best‑in‑class cost is attained
- Manage vehicle budget in collaboration with Rivian Finance team
- Work closely alongside Program Management to support prototype requirements, execute against build milestones and track sourcing progress
- Support Supplier Quality plant audits and technical reviews
- Host QBRs with the suppliers on a regular basis
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, or Engineering
- 5+ years of relevant experience in contract manufacturing industry, automotive industry, or consumer electronics industry
- Effective negotiation experience specific to ECUs, PCBAs, and subcomponents
- Good analytical skills with an experience on MS Excel, SQL, and Tableau
- Good interpersonal and communications skills
- High level of integrity
- Analytical skills to ensure both internal and external requests are fulfilled
- Attention to detail to ensure specifications being requested are received
- Ability to work independently, multi‑task and work in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience with automotive, electrical, electronics or hardware suppliers
- Ability to work in ambiguous situations and drive quick decisions
The salary range for this role is $149,700 - $187,100 for Palo Alto, California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
