Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own inverter mechanical parts from concept through production including part design and release
• Develop manufacturing processes including running DOEs and executing process validation
• Design and execute physical tests in a lab environment, including designing fixtures / test equipment
• Plan, coordinate, and execute test campaigns for design verification of inverter sub-components and the inverter system
• Optimize costs from design to manufacturing and create robust designs for automotive applications
• Own mechanical parts for inverters, driving optimization for durability, efficiency, and performance
• Domestic and International Travel Required up to 20%.

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation
• 5 years of experience with each of the following skill is required:
  Designing mechanical parts and assemblies using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
• 3 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  Analyzing the design of mechanical systems using Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools including Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
• 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  Analyzing production inspection data for mechanical and electrical components using statistical tools, Minitab and Excel
• Transition power electronic device designs to production at high volumes
• Work with manufacturing vendors to produce built-to-print mechanical components from concept through high volume production
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using established methodologies to identify the cause of failure in mechanical and electrical systems
• Perform Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize mechanical assemblies and processes.
