Systems Engineer
At Lanteris Space Systems we are building upon a 60+ year legacy of innovation, from designing high-gain antennas for NASA’s Voyager missions to developing the next generation of earth imaging satellites. We are seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer in Palo Alto, CA to apply expertise in Mechanical, Structural, and Configuration subsystems to support our space programs.
Responsibilities- Develop and validate a Concept of Operations (Con Ops).
- Decompose, flow‑down, and manage system requirements at the mission, system, subsystem, and component levels.
- Maintain requirements development and update compliance matrices.
- Develop and maintain system budgets for mass, power, and data.
- Execute full system validation and verification plans.
- Lead customer discussions regarding system design decisions.
- Define and conceptualize mechanical interface and operability requirements.
- Facilitate collaboration among subsystem engineers to ensure compliance.
- Model interpersonal behaviors that promote psychological safety and belonging.
- Provide senior technical oversight to ensure quality, rigor, and discipline in systems engineering.
- Identify technical risks and opportunities, implement mitigation plans, and drive risk management.
- Support proposal development and explore new business opportunities.
- Oversee spacecraft testing and review test results.
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or a STEM field (or four additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree).
- Five years of relevant experience in systems engineering or real‑time control of complex systems, with emphasis on Mechanical, Structural, or Configuration subsystems design and verification.
- General understanding of spacecraft design and product life cycle.
- Previous experience on United States Government programs.
- Experience with requirements management systems such as DOORS, JAMA, etc.
- Familiarity with risk management.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Experience developing technical processes and tailoring them for unique programs.
- Experience coding in C, C++, Python, or Matlab and creating software tools for verification activities.
- Familiarity with software architecture, verification, and validation.
The base pay for this position in California ranges from $117,000 to $195,000 annually. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, health and welfare insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
