Manufacturing Engineering Leader
ALSO is looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Leader to drive execution of FATP (final assembly test and pack) scope of work on key vehicle subsystems and complete vehicles. This is a rare opportunity to have a front row seat and high-level impact on each new vehicle product from two to four-wheeled.
What You Will DoDevelop the manufacturing strategy, process plans, capacity models, and budget.
Break down the plans into actionable tasks and manage the tactical execution.
Develop the centralized Mfg Eng team org chart, create the required job functions, recruit and grow the team's skills.
Collaborate with the engineering and supply chain teams to design the product for manufacturing, reliability, and cost improvement.
Single responsible individual (DRI) to ensure smooth bring-up of manufacturing lines during NPI and then sustaining of the lines over the product lifecycle.
Lead specification, design, and procurement of manufacturing lines, and special process equipment as well as data systems set-up; working closely with product engineering and contract manufacturers.
Implement local pilot lines and manufacturing process capabilities for A & B Sample product builds. Validate tooling and process to develop larger-scale systems.
Work with contract manufacturers to deploy production lines for C, D Sample, and mass production.
Interface with cutting-edge AI / industrial automation partners to place ALSO on the leading edge of lowering manufacturing costs, increasing high mix/low volume production capability.
Proven leader with a strong sense of ownership and excellent communication skills
Decades of hands-on experience developing new product and process technologies from a start-up environment through to volume manufacturing
Successful track record of manufacturing processes and equipment deployment for medium to high volume manufacturing experience.
Have experienced a variety of manufacturing contexts, giving the ability to tailor and adapt the approach to each of ALSO's unique product lines. (Ex automotive + consumer product.)
Skill and knowledge at both the vehicle "General Assembly (GA)" and functional tests level, as well as specialized and sensitive subsystem processes involved in, for example, battery and drive unit manufacturing.
Equally adept and in-house mfg development when necessary, as well as working through specialized external equipment suppliers and automation line integrators.
Ability to travel globally to manufacturing sites in regions including, for example, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Mexico, India (~25% of your time)
BS or greater in Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
