Position

Summary

The Neuromuscular Division of Neurology is seeking a Research Data Analyst (RDA) with clinical data management experience to utilize knowledge from research tools to conduct and analyze research data, assure efficiency and regulatory compliance; collect, compile and perform statistical analysis, data reports and management. The division aims to develop novel approaches to quantify movement through wearable and video technology and to analyze MRI data to better characterize disease health for individuals with neuromuscular disease.

As disease-modifying treatments become available, we are researching novel approaches to quantify movement and complement current clinical practice, working alongside professionals in radiology, cardiovascular health, and engineering.

This position focuses on clinical data management and primarily supports the labs’ clinical data collection systems. The successful candidate would use REDCap database design and form creation regularly, while aligning with administrative and research data governance. The primary data manager for multiple clinical research studies will ensure data integrity, regulatory compliance, and efficient data flow from collection through analysis. Learning SQL or having experience with Google Cloud is preferred.

Projects involve working with both pediatric and adult patients with neuromuscular diseases in lab and clinical environments. There are opportunities for long-term growth within the team to gain critical skills for a career in biomedical sciences. Studies will be conducted at the Stanford University Medical Center.

Duties
  • Collect, manage and clean datasets.
  • Employ tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data.
  • Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, determine root cause for data problems from input errors or inadequate field edits, and suggest solutions.
  • Develop reports, charts, graphs and tables for use by investigators and for publication and presentation.
  • Collaborate with faculty and research staff on data collection and analysis methods.
  • Communicate with government officials, grant agencies and industry representatives.
  • Design, develop, and maintain REDCap databases.
  • Data compliance.
  • Other duties may also be assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • 1-2 years experience in acquiring and/or processing data signals that requires a high level of technical skill and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with basic programming and scripting (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB, SQL).
  • Strong general computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
  • Experience in data science with applied statistics and data visualization/communication.
