Job DescriptionThe Virtual Machine Monitor Group ("Monitor Group") is responsible for the core CPU and memory virtualization technology used in all of Broadcom's VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) Division products. You will work with cutting‑edge CPU technology, VT‑x/AMD‑V, interrupt virtualization, memory virtualization/management, and virtualization of various compute technologies and accelerators. The VCF Division builds products and solutions that power the hybrid cloud and offers a platform that serves Broadcom's largest customers.
Successin the Role
In the first 6 months you will gain expertise in one of the specialization areas, such as new CPU feature enablement, instruction set (ISA) virtualization, confidential computing, modernizing the monitor architecture, hardware accelerators, power‑aware compute, or guest time‑keeping. By the end of year1 you will make impactful, core engineering contributions and enhancements in your area of specialization.
Responsibilities- Understand processor architecture and low‑level OS kernel internals, system software—memory management, resource management, and interrupt architecture.
- Program primarily in C, using assembly when required for machine‑specific constructs.
- Design, deliver, and support new processors or enhancements to the virtual machine monitor architecture.
- Contribute to CPU instruction set updates and memory virtualization/management features for monitor modernization.
- For senior roles, propose design roadmaps and lead technical efforts, guiding other engineers.
You will join the Monitor Group as part of the VCF Division under Broadcom. The group is collaborative, with a strong culture of engineering discipline. You will lead projects, present work to peers, and learn from teammates as well as from other groups working on core vSphere functions.
Job Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 8+ years of relevant experience, or Masters degree and 6+ years of experience, or PhD and 3+ years of experience.
- Experience in C and assembly programming.
- Experience working on the kernel and/or virtualization space.
- Proficiency in CPU architecture.
- Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
The annual base salary range is $108,000 – $192,000. The position also offers a discretionary annual bonus and equity awards in accordance with plan documents. Broadcom provides comprehensive benefits: medical, dental, & vision plans; 401(K) with company matching;
