Junior-level IC Trade, Sanctions & Export Controls Associate Description
Baker McKenzie seeks an associate attorney with 1‑2 years of experience in US trade law, focusing on US export controls, sanctions, and broader trade and national‑security related areas. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on regulatory matters—including advisory work, compliance program reviews, cross‑border transactional reviews and enforcement investigations—and will be comfortable managing work streams, supporting client relationships, and collaborating with cross‑practice teams across multiple jurisdictions.
The position is in‑person in the firm’s Palo Alto or San Francisco office. Candidates must be proactive, capable of working independently, hold strong academic credentials, and possess excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and writing skills, as well as a willingness to collaborate across teams and cultures and to enhance their skills using AI tools. Major law firm experience is strongly preferred. Candidates must be admitted to and in good standing of the California Bar or be eligible to waive in.

- This position is bonus eligible and includes benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) based on number of hours worked.
- The US base compensation for this position is expected to be $225,000 to $235,000 (annually) if located in an office in California. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
