Job Purpose:

Take facilities/construction projects from concept to final implementation on contained risk assignments. Work is typically 50% project leadership and 50% technical contribution.

Core Duties
  • Perform the full range of facilities/construction project management: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Lead projects requiring functional integration; complete sub-projects or contained projects.
  • Direct development of an action plan and estimate resources (management, labor, materials, time) required to complete the project.
  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive consensus within scope of responsibility.
  • Develop and help execute a comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan related to project scope and stakeholders; manage resistance to change.
  • Support teamwide efforts including quality assurance, quality control, and project accounting across the project delivery portfolio.
Capabilities & Responsibilities
  • Quality Assurance (QA): maintain procedures to prevent quality problems and ensure standards are met for each project.
  • Quality Control (QC): conduct ongoing inspections to identify and correct defects so projects meet established quality standards.
  • Project Accounting: manage day-to-day financial operations for projects with accurate and timely tracking of costs and payments.
Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience in management of projects of moderate size/complexity with limited performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting, or a combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Depth of knowledge in the technical discipline needed to deliver projects.
  • Preferred technical work experience in engineering, architecture, or construction management.
  • Preferred technical education in engineering, architecture, or construction management.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand, walk, sit, perform desk tasks and lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds; may twist, bend, stoop, squat, and perform fine manipulation.
  • Rarely kneel, crawl, climb ladders, or reach above shoulder level; may lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Valid non-commercial California Driver’s license required.
  • Auditory and visual acuity for safety and finishes assessment.
  • Ability to climb scaffolding, ladders, and stairs as needed.

Working Conditions
  • May work in active laboratories or outdoor environments; exposure to heat/cold, high voltage, radiation, noise, chemicals, and other hazards.
  • Asbestos, heavy metals, or work on roofs at heights greater than 10 ft may occur.
  • May drive day and night; wear required personal protective equipment and dress for clean rooms.
  • May work extended hours, evenings and weekends.
