Senior Publicist Harper Collins Publishers Australia
Harper Collins Australia is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic professional to join the Harper Collins Adult Books marcomms division in the role of Senior Publicist. This is a full‑time position, based at our head office in Sydney’s CBD.
The purpose of the roleTo work closely with the Publicity Manager and Head of Marketing and Communications to develop strategic, creative and innovative publicity campaigns for fiction and non‑fiction titles across the local and international lists of the Harper Collins Adult Books division.
Responsibilities (but not limited to)- Plan and implement fully integrated publicity campaigns for the Adult Books division’s local and international authors
- Collaborate with the publishing, marketing and sales teams to deliver creative and stand‑out publicity campaigns in line with the company strategy and campaign budget
- Pitch and secure review and feature coverage across relevant media, including newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, podcasts, online and social media
- Write media materials for internal and external use
- Plan and execute in‑person author launches, events and national tours to raise author profile and generate sales
- Accompany authors to events and media bookings around the country
- Attend writer’s festivals, conferences, conventions and relevant industry meetings and act as a public face of Harper Collins Australia
- Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists, producers and booksellers
- Other duties as required
- A demonstrable publicity background working in publishing, the arts, or similar
- Strong relationships across Australian media
- Excellent time management and planning with the ability to work effectively across multiple projects with various deadlines
- Great attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal skills
To be effective in this role you will have experience working on fully integrated and dynamic publicity campaigns as well as experience organising and managing author tours and events, excellent interpersonal skills, and be positive and self‑motivated, with a keen interest in books.
