JOB SUMMARY
Clinical Nurse Specialists are Master's‑degree prepared advanced practice registered nurses who provide care for patients with complex needs, use advanced clinical skills, develop standards of nursing practice, and serve as consultants to other health providers.
Quality and Practice Advisors are registered nurses who use evidence‑informed practice to lead improvements in patient care and the work environment, fostering collaboration and implementing evidence‑based practice changes.

Employees must abide by Joint Commission requirements, as well as hospital policies, including safety, quality, and ethics.
Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Analyze unit patient care plans, share findings, and collaborate to develop assessment tools.
- Demonstrate expertise in daily patient care, guiding staff in nursing processes.
- Implement therapeutic and preventative measures for selected patients.
- Collaborate with managers and researchers to evaluate and modify nursing care plans.
- Teach specialized knowledge and techniques in the specialty area.
- Provide consultative services, including clinical research planning.
- Participate in the hospital's quality improvement program and monitor quality indicators.
- Provide direct patient care, assessing priorities and needs.
- Maintain safety, comfort, and ethical standards while caring for patients.
- Serve as a consultant to patients, families, and staff.
Quality and Practice Advisor
- Establish and monitor care standards, recommending changes based on evidence.
- Ensure proficient understanding of daily patient care and direct staff in nursing processes.
- Teach specialized skills required for the specialty area.
- Consult within teams to improve quality outcomes and practice compliance.
- Possess basic understanding of quality improvement cycles and change management.
- Participate in the hospital's quality improvement program and monitor safety trends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Clinical Nurse Specialist
- Master’s degree in a related discipline from an accredited university.
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience.
- Registered Nurse license by California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Clinical Nurse Specialist license by California Board of Registered Nursing.
- Basic Life Support certification by American Heart Association.
Quality and Practice Advisor
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Proof of enrollment in an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist program (preferred).
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience.
- California Registered Nurse license (RN).
- Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers.
- Advanced life support certification in specialty area (NRP/PALS/ACLS) and a specialty certificate.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Both positions require strong communication, research, patient assessment, education development, and advanced nursing skills.

PAY RANGE
Minimum to midpoint hourly: $87.14 to $108.92.
