ICU Nurse, RN Nurse, Emergency Medicine
Position
Clinical Nurse (RN) – Rotating 12‑hour shifts (United States of America). Performing established nursing procedures using clinical knowledge to care for patients recovering from general or regional anesthesia, and moderate sedation. PACU servicing over 20 OR and procedural suite. Surgical and procedural volume includes orthopedics, general surgery, plastics, ophthalmology, neuro, GYN, GU, robotics, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and interventional radiology. Surgical and procedural volume is primarily inpatient and outpatients.
Patient acuity is high reflecting med‑surg and ICU patients. This position will be floated within our perianesthesia region.
Establish therapeutic relationships: create and maintain a climate conducive to healing through being present to the patient and family, identifying and managing discomfort, providing emotional support, guiding patient/family through illness phases, and mobilizing patient strengths toward recovery and control over care plan.
Diagnostic and monitoring functions: obtain accurate assessment data, interpret as normal or abnormal, determine nursing diagnosis, monitor and evaluate data as needed.
Plan and implement therapeutic interventions: collaborate with patient, family, and team to develop individualized care, implement interventions safely, evaluate effectiveness, monitor for adverse responses.
Teaching and coaching: assess learning needs, teach self‑care/illness prevention, adapt to patient conditions; teach staff as preceptor or super‑user.
Effective management of rapidly changing situations: rapidly grasp situations, respond appropriately, activate emergency protocols.
Maintain quality practices: monitor own practices, assist in monitoring others, seek continual improvement, contribute to patient and employee safety.
Organize and manage work: set priorities, delegate tasks, seek assistance; contribute to team building, positive morale, conflict resolution.
Utilize technology for communication, documentation, locating information; contribute to knowledge sharing via teaching, governance, publications, presentations.
Demonstrate lifelong learning, professional practice evaluation, and leadership in the professional setting.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:
Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN required.
Experience:
Minimum 2 years ICU (cardiac preferred); PACU background preferred.
Licensure &
Certifications:
Current California RN license; AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). CPAN preferred.
Communicate effectively in English.
Physical DemandsFrequent lifting of patients and equipment, bending, stooping, walking; moderate risks or discomforts including exposure to contagions, radiation, or infection. Protective clothing may be required.

CompensationBase pay scale: $96.35 – $111.14 per hour, determined by internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
