Assistant Patient Care Manager
OverviewAssists the Patient Care Manager with clinical management, administrative coordination, and leadership in designated patient care units or services. Supports unit goals, ensures consistent application of policies, and serves as a key resource for staff and the Patient Care Manager.
Responsibilities- Assist in the performance of operational aspects of designated unit(s), providing mentoring and leadership support to staff.
- Supervise the provision of quality, therapeutic and cost‑effective patient care in accordance with standards of practice, hospital protocols, policies, and procedures.
- Assist the Patient Care Manager with administrative and management functions, assuming delegated duties or acting in the manager’s absence.
- Coordinate and direct unit patient‑care operations for assigned shifts, acting on behalf of the Patient Care Manager.
- Facilitate orientation, training, and ongoing staff development; coach, develop, and provide corrective action for personnel as appropriate; participate in evaluation of employee performance.
- Monitor and evaluate patient‑care processes and outcomes to facilitate smooth workflow and desired patient‑care outcomes.
- Interpret and communicate the application and implementation of unit, department, and organizational philosophies, objectives, policies, and procedures to staff.
- Participate in unit goal and program planning, development, and evaluation of programs and special projects.
- Support continuous quality improvement, risk‑management, and performance‑improvement programs at the unit level.
- Provide competent and compassionate patient‑care as a role model and mentor; assist with unit workload and serve as a liaison to the Patient Care Manager.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.

- Responsible delegation of activities in accordance with a professional standard of practice and regulatory guidelines.
- Development and leadership of process‑improvement projects.

- Leadership, influence, and mentorship to meet patient needs and shared goals.
- Supervision, coaching, and performance evaluation of staff.

- Comprehensive knowledge of current nursing theories, practices, standards, and emerging technologies.
- Understanding of health‑care laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Knowledge of organizational management, fiscal and personnel management in health‑care settings.
- Awareness of current trends in health‑care and hospital system organization.
- Registered Nurse (RN) – State Licensure / Compact State Licensure.

Generally starting at $83.98–$111.27 per hour, with final salary determined by internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
