Overview
Our team is seeking an excellent communicator to work with patients with neurosurgical spinal disorders, coordinating care and keeping the team informed of critical patient information. The NP will see patients in ambulatory clinics, respond to patient messages and electronic communications with an RN, order and evaluate radiologic exams and labs, place referrals, refill postoperative medications, and coordinate treatments with schedulers.
The NP may also see follow-up patients in independent clinics (e.g., sutures, treatment follow-up, pre-operative and postoperative visits). The role requires strong organization and efficiency, empathy, and outstanding communication skills within a high-visibility, motivated team.

Provide medical services competent to your education, training, and experience under the supervision of a physician responsible for patients cared for by the NP.
Consult with a physician regarding tasks, procedures, or diagnostic problems beyond the NP’s competence; refer such cases to a collaborating physician.
Evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic conditions according to standardized procedures.
Obtain histories and perform physical exams with assessment of findings for new and return patients, following standardized procedures.
Order and evaluate diagnostic studies as indicated; administer, order, furnish, and prescribe medications per procedures.
Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests and other procedures; order physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations, and nursing services as needed.
Perform designated procedures after demonstrated competency; obtain informed consent when indicated.
Initiate arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges and complete appropriate paperwork.
Assist with investigational studies as approved by the supervising physician and order necessary tests and medications; document for any off-label use with physician approval.
Assist the supervising physician in the operating room after appropriate training; collaborate with RN First Assistant under physician supervision.
Recognize age-specific needs of patients and communicate effectively with patients, families, staff, and diverse communities.
Coordinate inpatient and outpatient care and services; collaborate with providers and community resources; ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and provide patient teaching and counseling.
Other duties as assigned.
Master’s or Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. (
Note:
NPs hired prior to March 1, 2012 are not subject to this educational requirement.)Graduate of an NP program accredited by NLNAC or CCNE.

Salary:
Base pay scale generally starting at $89.01 - $117.94 per hour. The final salary is determined based on factors including experience, education, and specialty.
