Assistant Patient Care Manager – Operating Room, Ortho​/Neuro

• Assist the Patient Care Manager with clinical management and administrative coordination of designated patient care units or services
• Support achievement of unit goals and objectives
• Supervise patient care staff and operations for an assigned shift
• Coordinate administrative functions as assigned
• Ensure consistent implementation and monitoring of organizational policies and standards of care
• Provide timely information and feedback to the Patient Care Manager
• Assist with operational aspects of designated units while providing mentoring and leadership support
• Supervise quality, therapeutic and cost-effective patient care according to standards, protocols, policies, procedures and patient outcomes
• Assume Patient Care Manager duties when delegated or during absence
• Coordinate and direct patient care operations for an assigned shift
• Facilitate orientation, training and ongoing staff development
• Assist with coaching, development, corrective action and employee performance evaluations
• Monitor and evaluate patient care processes and outcomes
• Interpret unit, department and organizational philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures to staff
• Participate in unit goal and program planning, special projects, continuous quality/process/performance improvement and risk management programs
• Provide competent and compassionate patient care and assist with unit workload
• Serve as liaison to the Patient Care Manager

• Strong ortho/neuro skills preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university
• Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience
• RN
  - Registered Nurse
  - State Licensure And/Or Compact State Licensure
• Ability to contribute to health care policy formulation when working in partnership with a multidisciplinary team of health care providers
• Ability to delegate responsibly according to ability, level of preparation, standards of practice and regulatory guidelines
• Ability to develop programs and lead process improvement projects
• Ability to establish strategic direction and business plans for a functional group
• Ability to initiate and implement change to improve quality and safety of patient care delivery
• Ability to provide leadership, prioritize system resources, promote cooperative behaviors, and act as a role model, resource and mentor
• Ability to supervise, coach, mentor, train, and evaluate work results
• Ability to use information and stay current with technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making in patient care
• Knowledge of current nursing theories, principles, practices, standards, emerging technologies, techniques and approaches
• Knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, certifying and accrediting standards, and hospital policies and procedures governing nursing care
• Knowledge of organization, administration, fiscal and personnel management principles
• Knowledge of health care and hospital system organization and administration

Demonstrates strong clinical management and leadership capabilities in patient care settings, with a focus on quality improvement, staff development, and adherence to healthcare policies and standards. Proficient in supervising nursing staff and coordinating patient care operations to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
