Stanford University is seeking a Research Data Analyst 2 to manage and analyze large amounts of technical or scientific information, typically with minimal supervision.
Stanfordās Department of Health Policy and Stanford Population Health Sciences (PHS) seek to hire a highly skilled individual as a fullātime researcher. The position is expected to start in June 2026, although the exact date is flexible and negotiable, for a oneāyear term with potential renewal.
The researcher will work on projects involving Medicaid administrative data, studying policy impacts on lowāincome children, women, and other Medicaid recipients. The role also includes curating and linking Medicaid data to electronic health record data from primary care and using the linked data for new research. The researcher will act as an expert resource and potential collaborator with Stanford students, faculty, and other researchers.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience working with Medicaid or claims data and an interest in economics or health policy. Successful candidates should exhibit strong attention to detail, timeāmanagement skills, fluency in a relevant programming language (preferably Stata, SQL, and R), experience in data management and curation, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and a willingness to learn new technical skills and gain knowledge in US health policy.
A PhD in economics, health policy, or a related field is preferred.
Duties Include- Prioritize and extract data from a variety of sources such as notes, survey results, medical reports, and laboratory data, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
- Determine additional data collection and reporting requirements.
- Design and customize reports based on database content, overseeing regulatory compliance for data use.
- Use system reports and analyses to identify problematic data, correct issues, and eliminate root causes or provide justifications for solutions to be implemented by others.
- Create complex charts and databases, perform statistical analyses, and develop graphs and tables for publication and presentation.
- Serve as a resource for nonāroutine inquiries such as requests for statistics or surveys.
- Test prototype software and participate in the approval and release process for new software.
- Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff.
- Develop and/or apply novel data curation, metadata, econometric, and analytic techniques and approaches to healthcare claims data, such as Medicaid data.
- Learn from and collaborate with renowned data science and health experts across Stanford on complex projects utilizing largeāscale administrative datasets.
- Implement data analysis through statistical programming.
- Mentor clinical investigators on relevant research methods.
- Identify appropriate statistical tools for analysis.
- Other duties may also be assigned.

Expected pay range: $108,002 to $128,138 per annum.
