We are at a significant inflection point: the explosion in AI compute is driving a scale and speed of manufacturing that has never been seen before in this market, and Instrumental has become a key tool to help companies like NVIDIA meet demand. We are expanding our product, and building a fundamentally new platform to allow us to scale.

Instrumental is seeking a Frontend Application Tech Lead to own and drive the buildout of a powerful and intuitive web application that will be deployed commercially at scale – the interface through which engineers, analysts, and operations leaders at the world’s largest tech companies and factories see, understand, and act on the data that cuts manufacturing waste in half.

• Has played a lead role delivering high quality, data intensive, intuitive user experience in a large‑scale React + Type Script environment.
• Is technically strong on all things frontend and user‑centered design. Able to enforce architectural boundaries and advocate best practices.
• Has demonstrated excellence as a strong tech lead, reliable project lead, and trustworthy team lead in fast‑paced high‑growth startup settings.
• Is intelligent and knowledgeable, collaborates well, understands the business side of requirements. Able to articulate use cases, interaction flows and engineering trade‑offs to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

• 8+ years of hands‑on development experience building production‑grade data‑intensive web applications.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related majors.
• Master of modern JavaScript frameworks, component‑driven design systems, and responsive UI principles. Guru‑level knowledge of React is mandatory.
• Demonstrated effectiveness working with backend/REST APIs and collaborating with backend/platform engineers in a tech‑lead capacity.
• Passionate about building elegant, reactive, and scalable user experience with a focus on performance and usability.
• Track record of owning and driving projects from conception to completion by collaborating with cross‑functional stakeholders, mentoring, and leading engineering teams.

• Fast learner. Eager to absorb new emerging technologies.
• High energy. Can thrive in a fast‑paced environment with a can‑do attitude.

• Startup experience building, scaling, and evolving web applications for IPO‑scale growth.
• Has built web applications for highly specialized industries such as manufacturing, cybersecurity and security trading.

The following is a representative annual base salary range for this position within the Bay Area: $205k–$257k. In addition, job level and salary opportunities are evaluated through our interview process – we review the experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of each applicant.
