What to Expect

This position is expected to start August or September 2026 and continue through the fall term (ending approximately December 2026) or into Winter/Spring 2027 if available. The internship requires a minimum of 12 weeks, full‑time (40 hours/week) and on‑site. International students should verify CPT work authorization for 40 hours/week. Recent graduates should apply for full‑time positions.
Internship Program at Tesla: A year‑round program that places interns in roles where they grow technically, professionally, and personally. Interns work closely with Managers, Mentors, and team members on projects critical to team success.
About the TeamThe Simulation Platform team is a critical component of vehicle firmware development, supporting current and future vehicle programs. Responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining simulation tooling that enables efficient testing and validation of firmware. Interns tackle complex problems in distributed software and contribute to cutting‑edge simulation technologies.
What You'll Do- Design and develop simulation tooling for vehicle firmware testing and validation
- Design and supervise agentic loops for simulation engine performance, cache optimization, and more
- Integrate vehicle components into the simulation environment
- Architect and develop software for big data synchronization, storage, and retrieval
- Work closely with engineering teams and application users
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field, with graduation date between December 2026 and December 2027
- Strong knowledge and experience in Rust; familiarity with async Rust is a plus
- Experience working in a fast‑paced environment on several simultaneous projects
- Experience with Linux operating system internals
- Nice to have:
Python and embedded C/C++ experience - Nice to have:
Kubernetes or Docker container experience - Knowledge of version control (Git)
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills

Expected compensation: US $42.07 – 58.89 per hour + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Compensation may also include other elements as part of the offer. Benefit plan details will be provided upon offer.
