Overview
We are looking for a Senior Agentic AI Engineer to join the BTP Product Management Regional Implementation Group (RIG). This hybrid role is based out of Palo Alto, CA and focuses on bringing the latest SAP innovations into real customer environments across the Americas.
In this role you will build AI‑enabled applications on SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), working directly with customers to design and implement production‑intent solutions using Joule Studio 2.0 and related services.
Responsibilities- Design and implement production‑intent solutions on SAP Business AI Platform, focusing on AI‑enabled scenarios such as custom agents, intelligent applications, and workflows like n8n.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, development architects, and customer technical teams to translate business requirements into scalable architectures and support customer adoption of new technologies.
- Stay current on SAP’s latest releases and platform capabilities, evaluating suitability for customer use cases and assessing architectural approaches, implementation strategies, and technical trade‑offs.
- Contribute structured product feedback from real customer engagements, partnering with SAP Product Management and Architecture teams to improve product capabilities and developer experience.
- Assist in creating sample implementations, reference architectures, configuration examples, and developer enablement materials to help internal teams and future customers adopt new SAP technologies more easily.
- University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field; 4+ years of software development experience building and shipping production systems with increasing responsibility.
- Recognized go‑to developer for complex technical challenges within your team.
- Strong full‑stack engineering fundamentals, comfortable building front‑end experiences, back‑end services, APIs, and data integrations.
- Proficiency in back‑end languages (Python, Node.js, Java, or Go) and modern front‑end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, or UI5). Experience with Docker, cloud‑native development (AWS, Azure, GCP, or SAP BTP), API design, and Dev Ops & CI/CD pipelines.
- Practical AI expertise: generative AI, LLM orchestration, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, and agentic architectures. Demonstrated delivery of AI‑powered solutions in production or significant internal projects.
- Experience building agents using modern frameworks and protocols (MCP, A2A, Lang Graph, CrewAI, or similar), beyond tutorials and prototypes.
- Understanding of LLM production concerns such as grounding, guardrails, latency, cost optimization, and observability.
- Familiarity with knowledge graphs, vector stores, relational databases, and embedding pipelines.
- Independent work style with the ability to set priorities and take full ownership of deliverables from start to finish.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, building partnerships with cross‑functional teams to translate business problems into working software.
- Cloud‑first mindset and ability to work effectively in a globally distributed, cross‑cultural environment.
- Passion for continuous learning and turning ambitious AI ideas into production‑grade solutions.
- Experience developing on SAP BTP / SAP Build / Joule or working with SAP AI Core.

Compensation range: $131,000 - $222,700 USD (annualized) inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target. Benefits include health, wellness, and professional development opportunities.
