Embedded Vehicle Access Software Developer

We're looking for a skilled Embedded Vehicle Access Software Developer to help design and build vehicle access capabilities that allow vehicles, mobile devices, and wireless systems to interact securely and seamlessly. You'll take ownership of software for vehicle access systems, spanning Body Control Modules (BCMs), embedded platforms, and wireless technologies, to deliver best-in-class Digital Key experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build embedded software for Vehicle Access systems deployed on ECUs and real-time embedded platforms.
  • Build out and maintain Digital Key capabilities aligned with Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) standards.
  • Develop vehicle access software leveraging Bluetooth, Ultra-Wideband (UWB), NFC, and RF communication technologies.
  • Partner closely with systems, hardware, validation, cybersecurity, and mobile app teams to deliver complete vehicle access solutions.
  • Write and refine embedded software in C, using Python to automate testing and validation workflows.
  • Shape software architecture, interfaces, and communication frameworks connecting vehicle systems to external devices.
  • Assist with vehicle integration, debugging, and system bring-up on both prototype and production vehicles.
  • Diagnose and resolve intricate software, connectivity, and RF issues spanning vehicle and mobile ecosystems.
  • Contribute to design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions that keep vehicle access architecture scalable and dependable.
  • Champion software quality via rigorous testing, automation, and root-cause investigation across the development lifecycle.
  • Make effective use of AI-powered development tools (such as VS Code with Git Hub Copilot or other AI assistants) to speed up coding, reviews, debugging, documentation, and test creation — while carefully vetting all AI-generated output for compliance with automotive safety, security, and coding requirements (e.g., MISRA).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a comparable discipline.
  • 5+ years building embedded software professionally.
  • Solid command of Embedded C programming.
  • Proven Python scripting and automation skills.
  • Direct experience with sophisticated embedded software projects — for instance, Vehicle Access systems or Digital Key technology.
  • Familiarity working with industry standards, such as those from the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC).
  • Solid understanding of Bluetooth, UWB, NFC, RF communication, and wireless connectivity architecture.
  • Background developing software for automotive ECUs and real-time embedded systems.
  • Understanding of vehicle communication architectures and embedded development practices.
  • Skill in diagnosing and resolving issues spanning hardware, firmware, and system layers.
  • Practical experience with modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., VS Code Copilot, Claude Code, or similar) to boost coding efficiency, speed up debugging, and support documentation/test generation — paired with good judgment on responsibly applying AI-generated results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Automotive background implementing CCC Digital Key vehicle access technology.
  • Experience building software for Body Control Modules (BCM) or Vehicle Access ECUs.
  • Awareness of cybersecurity principles tied to vehicle access and secure authentication.
  • Exposure to CAN, Automotive Ethernet, diagnostics, and other vehicle communication protocols.
  • Background in vehicle integration, validation, and launch efforts.
  • Familiarity with embedded Linux and RTOS-based systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO 26262, ASPICE, MISRA, or other automotive software development standards.
  • Track record of shaping or contributing to team guidelines around the safe, efficient use of AI coding tools in safety-critical or regulated software settings.
