Switch Software Engineer Palo Alto, Bangalore

As a Switch Software Engineer, you will own the full software stack for Aria’s data center Ethernet switch platforms — from ASIC SDK integration and data plane programming through control plane protocol implementation. You will solve hard problems at the boundary of silicon and software: platform bring-up, high-performance forwarding, and AI-optimized networking features such as adaptive routing and congestion control for RoCE traffic.

This role spans concept through production, contributing to both the Linux-based NOS and the Aria Cluster Software control plane.

• Develop and maintain ASIC SDK integrations for Broadcom switching silicon (StrataXGS, Trident, Tomahawk) using SAI and native SDK interfaces
• Implement and optimize data plane features including L2/L3 forwarding, ECMP, VXLAN, and RDMA/RoCE support
• Own control plane protocol development and integration — BGP, OSPF, and Aria-specific extensions for AI cluster networking
• Drive platform bring-up for new switch hardware in close collaboration with hardware and ASIC teams
• Architect and implement features within a Linux-based NOS (SONiC, ONL or Aria’s own stack) targeting high-scale production deployments
• Debug and resolve system-level issues spanning hardware, firmware, and software across the full switch stack
• Define software interfaces between the NOS and the Aria Cluster Software control plane
• Contribute to design reviews, technical specifications, and test infrastructure for switch software features

• BS/MS in Software Engineering and 8+ years of software engineering with a primary focus on networking and switching
• Hands-on experience programming datacenter switching ASICs via SAI or native SDKs
• Deep working knowledge of L2/L3 protocols including BGP, OSPF, ECMP, VXLAN, and RDMA/RoCE
• Proficiency in C/C++ for systems and data plane development;
  Python for tooling, automation, and test
• Experience developing or maintaining a Linux-based network operating system such as SONiC, ONL or other well known NOS
• Strong debugging skills across hardware/software boundaries including packet-level analysis and SDK tracing
• Demonstrated ability to take networking software features from design through production at scale
• Experience with Broadcom datacenter switching ASICs (StrataXGS, Trident, Tomahawk, or equivalent) is a significant plus
• Experience with P4 or programmable data plane development is a significant plus
• Familiarity with AI/ML cluster networking — RoCEv2, adaptive routing, and congestion control — is a significant plus
• Prior work at a networking hardware company or hyperscaler building switch software at scale is preferred
