The engineering team is small, highly technical, and focused on solving challenging problems across backend infrastructure, AI systems, data, and product.

We’re looking for a mid-level Backend / AI Engineer to join the engineering team and take ownership of core systems powering the company’s AI platform.

You’ll work across the backend stack, building production services and AI-powered workflows that need to be reliable, scalable, and easy to integrate into real-world healthcare environments.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who enjoys moving between backend engineering, distributed systems, data, and applied AI. You’ll have significant ownership over projects and will work closely with senior engineers, product, and domain experts to turn complex problems into production systems.

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs
• Develop AI-powered applications and workflows using modern LLM technologies
• Build and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure supporting AI applications
• Work with LLMs, RAG, agents, embeddings, vector databases, and evaluation frameworks
• Integrate AI systems with external APIs, enterprise systems, and proprietary datasets
• Own projects end-to-end, from technical design through implementation and deployment
• Improve the reliability, observability, performance, and scalability of production systems
• Work closely with product and domain experts to understand complex healthcare workflows
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help shape engineering best practices
• Rapidly prototype new ideas while maintaining a high bar for production quality

• 3-5 years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals and experience building production systems
• Strong proficiency in Python or another modern backend language
• Experience building APIs and services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, Flask, Go, Java, or similar
• Practical experience building or integrating LLM/AI-powered applications
• Familiarity with concepts such as RAG, vector databases, embeddings, agents, prompt engineering, or model evaluation
• Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, observability, scalability, and system design
• Comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment with significant ownership and ambiguity

• Experience building production AI systems rather than purely research or experimentation
• Experience with Lang Chain, Lang Graph, OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar AI tooling
• Familiarity with healthcare APIs, clinical data standards, or healthcare workflows
• Experience taking an AI prototype from 0→1 into a reliable production product

• Work on AI-native products with meaningful real-world impact in healthcare
• Own substantial backend and AI projects rather than being siloed into a narrow engineering function
• Solve technically challenging problems involving AI, data, and distributed systems
